Hoosier George Molchan got a 21-wiener whistle salute as he was laid to rest recently -- REALLY!
The 82-year old Molchan protrayed "Little Oscar" for the Oscar Meyer meat company. For more than 30 years, Hobart resident Molchan toured the country in the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile as the company's "Good Wiener Ambassador."
After a final prayer, mourners blew their plastic "wiener whistles" and then sang "Oh I wish I were and Oscar Meyer Wiener." His obituary appeared in the New York Times, Seattle Post Intelligencer, and nearly every newspaper in between.
You can't make this stuff up.
