Well, it probably isn't what the Chamber of Commerce had in mind, but tens of thousands of visitors to Indianapolis for the Final Four Weekend got a taste of Indiana's volatile Spring weather this week.
The big wave of visitors started arriving Thursday -- a beautiful spring day with sun, warm breezes and the forsythias just starting to bloom. But Friday, it changed in a hurry. Ominous dark clouds swept across Indiana, and tornado sirens sounded in downtown Indianapolis. Television and radio stations were full of reports of tornadoes hitting near Greenwood and in Shelby County. Saturday, the day was dark, damp and nearly frigid.
So a reminder to all our visitors -- when you get ready to leave your hotel room and it's nice and sunny, don't forget your umbrella -- or your mittens. You might need them both before you get back to your room.
