At times, we all take things for granted. But once in a while we get a jolt that reminds us that life is fragile, and precious. And that life can change so fast -- some times in an instant.
It's been a bit that was for me this past month. Two clients stricken with cancer died within days of each other. Then a business acquaintance in his late 40s was diagnosed with cancer with an uncertain prognosis.
Against that backdrop, I started suffering from persistent headaches. To make a long story short, after an MRI, I received a diagnosis of having an arachnid cyst on my brain, which was putting pressure on my cerebellum. Disquieting to say the least. This diagnosis lead to a month of trepidation, appointments with two neurosurgeons, and finally a lumbar puncture (a/k/a spinal tap).
But there was good news at the end of the road. No surgery needed. The spinal tap showed that I simply have an anomaly that is not a health concern, and not the cause of my headaches (which have improved in the past 3 weeks).
Still, the experience is a sobering one. And a reason for a more thankful than normal Thanksgiving this year.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go. I think I hear Gene Autry singing "I'm Back in the Saddle Again."
I was wondering where you were.....I am so glad everyting turned out for the best for you. You are right, we in this country have so much to be thankful for.
