HOOSIERS COMING TO AID OF KATRINA VICTIMS

Hoosiers all over the state are doing what Hoosier always do -- helping.

Hoosiers are coming to the aid of Katrina victims in every way possible. High school cheerleaders spent Friday night taking up collections for Hurricane victims at high school football games across the state. Contributions and volunteers are streaming in to the Red Cross.

Specially trained urban rescue teams from Indiana are now on the job in southern Mississippi, doing the gruelling and painstaking work of going house to house, car to car, searching for survivors and victims.

And more than 2,000 Indiana National Guard members are now on duty in the Gulf Coast. This is the largest contingent from any state outside the impacted area.
